What Happens on the day of CustomVue Lasik

Interview before procedure

Questions answered:

What are your feelings now? Are you apprehensive? What were your feelings yesterday? Did you get sound sleep at night? What are pre - Laser preparations done?

“My name is Navdeep Marwah. I am 37 and ½ years old and I am resident of Wandsworth, London. I am a Strategy Consultant and I had done my MBA before. Today I am undergoing CustomVue Lasik procedure. My Both eyes number is - 3.50 with – 0.50 cylindrical. Considering my age in addition to far vision glasses (Myopia), my near vision (Presbyopia) will also be treated in advance.

My current feelings are – I am excited about getting my Laser procedure done for my glasses which I have being wearing since 25 years. I am apprehensive as it is surgery at the end of the day. But I am hopeful that everything will go well. I slept very well last night and pretty refreshed now and looking forward to the procedure.
I was given antibiotic eye drops to put in both the eyes.
I have put it 4 times yesterday and today before coming to the institute. I had head bath and washed my face with the soap before coming here”.

“I am sitting on the Laser bed about to undergo Laser procedure”.

Each eye treatment was for about 1 minute. Total time in Laser suite was about 8 minutes. Right eye Laser time: 21 seconds. Left eye Laser time: 16 seconds.
Though both eyes number is similar right eye Laser treatment time was 5 seconds more, to treat more aberrations (impurities in vision pathway) in left eye to improve quality of vision.

Inside Laser suit: After Laser procedure

“My procedure is done now. My both eyes are done well. The procedure was pain free and it was quite a pleasant experience. I am happy at the moment and I don’t have any discomfort. I have been given glares for protection”.

Recovery room: After Laser procedure

“This is 20 minutes after my procedure. I don’t have any pain and I am about to go home. My vision is quite good now”.

Male changing room: After Laser procedure

“I am going out of the changing room now. I am taking out my sterile clothes”.

Reception: Instructions - back to home

“Within 20 minutes of the procedure I am going home now. I have been given all the instruction and I’ll be back tomorrow for a follow up. Thank you! Bye!”

Mr Navdeep was called at 7 pm by institute counselor on the day of procedure (24/8/20100) to know if he needed any help/queries/complaints etc. He said he was doing very well.

Second day of procedure: 25/8/2010

“Hi, I am Navdeep. This is the 2nd day of my procedure. So I am feeling good and seeing pretty well now. My vision is better than 6/6 or 20/20. I am generally feeling very well and positive. I didn’t have pain and I see very clearly at the moment. My experience yesterday was very positive. I didn’t have pain when I got back home and I slept well. Throughout the day I didn’t feel any pain. I was given eye drops and I slept well at night. I am extremely happy that I am off glasses and I am able to see without spectacles so it’s a great feeling”.

Seventh day of procedure: 2/9/2010

“Hi, I am Navdeep and this is the 7th day of my CustomVue Lasik procedure. I am feeling very good and I am seeing both far and near objects very well. The procedure has gone as per plan. Considering my age we have done both far and near vision correction. So I will not need glasses for near vision. I will be returning to London tomorrow which will be 8th day of my CustomVue procedure. I feel very confident. Very good care and advice is given to me. When I go back I will be in touch with the surgeon of this institute via e-mail, if required. Finally I would like to thank the doctor of this institute. It was very interesting and wonderful experience working with him and the staff here as well. They were very professional and very much in the line of standards what I would have expected in London. I am happy to have very good vision without glasses or contact lenses”.
